Palawan Liberation: Special Battalion World War II Museum and Welcome Dinner

After the memorable Manila World War II Landmark tour, Rajah Travel together with the Palawan delegates flew the following day to Puerto Princesa to prepare for the following day’s memorial event.

One of the highlights of the day, is the opportunity to tour the Palawan Special Battalion WW-II Memorial Museum owned by Higinio "Buddy" C. Mendoza, the son of the late Palawan Hero Dr. Higinio A. Mendoza Sr.

The museum showcases all the different memorabilia he collected during the World War II including the World War II Jeep.

But the most important highlight of the event was the special privilege to stand side by side our Filipino Veterans, Lorenzo De Lachica (94 yo) and Eliseo I. Manaeg (96 yo). Words cannot describe how proud we are to be with our very Filipino heroes!

Let's dance the ‪‎tinikling! That is how our pre-event dinner ended with a group of our Palawan Liberation delegates learning the tinikling. The tinikling dance is one of the most popular traditional Philippine dances. It originated during the Spanish colonial era and is danced to rondalla music, a sort of serenade played by an ensemble of stringed instruments which originated in Spain during the Middle Ages. The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. It was quite a show watching the delegate try it out.

But more importantly, the dinner served as a welcome to all the delegates, guest and, especially, to our honorees and their families. Vice Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates welcomed all the guests, delegates and honorees to the 70th Anniversary of the Palawan Liberation.
