SPOTLIGHT ON: The United Kingdom
The Great British Festival (successfully) brought us a taste of the UK here in the Philippines. Held at Bonifacio High Street last February 27 – March 1, the event was a celebration of all things British!
There were heaps of fun-filled activities and performances for the whole family. For instance, guests could relax on the grass and watch famous British films like Harry Potter and James Bond as they were flashed onto the giant screen; all this while snacking on some delicious local dishes like fish and chips dripping in tartar sauce. Yum!
The Great British Festival also boasted a variety of different booths: car enthusiasts could pose beside the display of sexy British cars from the likes of Jaguar and Mini Cooper, students interested in studying in the UK could inquire at the education booths, and shopaholics could indulge themselves in brands like Cath Kidston, Marks & Spencer, and Debenhams.
Apart from miniature replicas of UK’s famous tourist spots like Big Ben, Stonehenge, and Buckingham Palace; fangirls (and fanboys) were delighted to be able to pose with British pop culture icons like the Iron Throne (Game of Thrones), the TARDIS (Doctor Who), and the door to Sherlock’s London residence (221 B Baker Street!) Guests were also given a chance to take a selfie with the ever elusive Nessie.
